WEB SERVER POLICY:
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Library-Media Center’s
Web Server is to support the Mission of the library. The Library’s
Mission Statement states that the library is to:

Provide access to a diversity of information,
ideas and creative works to stimulate and support the college’s mission
of teaching, learning, and service.

Supports the instructional objectives of the
college by integrating information resources.

Maintains a curriculum-driven collection of
resources and services.
FUNCTION:
The function of the Web Server supports
the Library’s Institutional Effectiveness Plan by:

Assisting patrons in becoming information literate.
-
Facilitates access to library-media materials.
-
Provides materials to support and enrich the
curriculum.
-
Assists patrons in retrieving needed research
materials, whether held by the library or not.
USE CRITERIA:
-
Information resources that comply with the
purpose of the Web Server may be placed on the web server through
library procedure.

Information placed on the server or sites directed
by the server will abide by "Library Bill of Rights" adopted by
the American Library Association and the "School Library Bill of Rights"
adopted by the American Association of School Librarians.

The primary use of the Web Server is to facilitate
the library’s mission.
PROCEDURE:
-
Approval for use will be determined by the
above stated criteria.

Faculty may request access to or space on the
server for instructional resources.
-
Faculty may request disk space. Space allocation
will be determined by size of project and space availability.

Faculty may request that the Library link from
its web page to another page that meets the purpose of the Library’s web
page and the college curriculum.
