What books are free online?
You will not find most textbooks
online. You will find many classic works of fiction, non-fiction and
poetry, plus important cultural and historical texts.
The year to remember is 1923.
Books copyrighted prior to January 1, 1923, were protected for 75 years.
As copyrights expired those books became part of the public domain and
can now be legally posted online. Copyright laws have changed, and books
written after 1923 won’t begin to enter the public domain until 2019.
