The Process approach to writing

In writing 101 classes at South Puget sound you will hear instructors refer to

" writing as a process" and "developing your own voice".

In class they will provide you with tools and a basic writing process to follow.

You will experiment with these tools and learn to develop your own process for writing.

We all have different skills and difficulties. Developing our own process reduces much

of the stress that we experience writing and enables us to write more effectively. The

goal of college writing is to teach us to write at a college level.

When instructors speak of "developing your own voice", they simply mean to

develop your own style of writing.
